British Slang

A collection of my favorite British slang terms, as demonstrated by Human Wheatley.

1. "A round of fisticuffs"; a round of boxing or fist fighting. I really enjoy the word 'fisticuffs' and wish I had put a bit more 'wtf' into GLaDOS's expression. Of course, she's not a very demonstrative or expressive character, even though she tries to speak that way, so her expression is probably a bit more in character. ...yeah, I think I'm going to go with the trend of making her hair white/silver. The blonde is not working for her at all.

2. "The dog's bollocks"; the best of the best. Similar to using the term 'the bee's knees', 'the cat's meow' or 'the cat's pajamas'. The phrase 'the mutt's nuts' is also used, but the word 'bollocks' makes me giggle. Chell is also trying to figure out what the hell was just said to her, and the 'wtf' expression is a bit more predominant.'

3. "Thick as a brick in a bottle neck"; something really dumb. The phrase is actually 'thick as shit in a bottle neck', but I can't imagine Wheatley swearing and substituted 'shit' for 'brick', which is a euphemism for scat. I reverted to chibi style because it's getting close to my bed time and wanted to post this before I turn in.

A couple notes on the character designs. It seems that blond is the widely accepted hair color for Wheatley, but really I see him as having black hair. Now, my habit in drawing black hair is starting off with the blue base and coloring black over it, which seems to work particularly well for this character.

As far as what's on Human Wheatley's back, that's his core self. I don't know, maybe it's just the years of watching Invader Zim and having the idea of a personality Pak attached to an organic being, I kind of see the cores of Aperture Science labs becoming 'human' in a sense through the same manner. As to why GLaDOS doesn't seem to have her core attached to her body? Because I'm lazy. But you can imagine it there.

Permission granted to anyone who might want to explore this idea a bit more in depth. Might poke at it a bit more once I've actually beat the game. XD
